Coyles were looking to carry on where they left off after last weeks game being called of due to bad weather.

On a dreadful day and muddy pitch it was Stelphick who started the brighter, kicking with the wind behind them in the first half.

Coyles seemed to be half asleep during the opening 15 minutes as Stelphick bombarded the Coyles defence without really creating any clear cut chances.

But after 20 minutes Stelphick launched a throw into the box which was met by the head of an attacker and looked like it was heading into the bottom corner. However Ryan got down low and pushed the ball round the post for a corner.

The game was being played in midfield for most of the the first half with neither side creating many chances on goal.

Coyles best chance fell to Marrow after 30 minutes. After neat link up play between Corney, Banks and Scott-Douglas, the ball was cut back to Marrow who could not control has shot and blazed it over the bar for a goal kick.

The defence was looking very strong this week, with all three Coyles defenders winning challenges and headers to break down the Stelphick attacks.

Coyles finally broke the deadlock after 38 minutes when Banks passed to Wigington on the right. The cross came in but was cleared only as far as Marrow, who took one touch before volleying over the keeper from 25 yards.

Banks, Marrow and Scott-Douglas were running tiredlessly in the centre of the park to break down the oppositions play, trying to play football on the horrible playing surface.

HALF TIME: COYLES FC 1 v 0 STELPHICK UTD

The second half was a differnt story, with Coyles starting to gain control.

Two minutes after the restart Hoare got the ball on the left and carried it into the box. With one more defender to beat he was upended and the referee did not hestitate in pointing to the spot.

Wigington stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to score from the spot and grab his 7th of the season.

After this Stelphick Utd's heads seemed to go down a little and Coyles started to play with real confidence, passing the ball from back to front.

It was a good move that set up Coyles third goal. Scott-Douglas foud Redbond free on the left who cut into the box and cut the ball across goal to Banks, who fired past the keeper into the bottom corner.

On 65 minutes Coyles made it 4-0 when Banks turned provider, cutting the ball back to Redbond who tapped the ball in to the empty net.

Stelphick never gave up, but a sucession of throw ins and corners were dealt with comfortably by the superb defensive performance.

With just under 20 minutes remaining, Marrow came off for Ketland.

Further chances fell to Redbond who was put through by Corney and then Ketland, but the Stelphick Utd keeper did well to stand up and save at the feet of the Coyles striker.

The fifth goal came with ten minutes to go when Corney was released by Wigington down the right. He beat a defender and cut the ball back to Ketland who calmly slotted the ball into the top corner with his left foot.

Stelphick Utd then had a chance to pull one back as the striker went through one-on-one with Ryan. The Coyles keeper was up to the task though and twice denied the desperate Stelphick forward to eventually tip round the post for a corner.

With four minutes left Coyles hit six. Redbond picked up the ball on the left and cut back to Ketland on the edge of the area. Ketland found Corney unmarked to his right and he calmly slotted the ball past the Stelphick keeper for his sixth of the season.

The game finished on what was a great day for Coyles. A good morale boosting victory ahead of the League Plate Semi-Final next Sunday, with six different scorers, showing the diversity of the team.

It will be a big task to beat the Premier side next week but a task that I am sure the whole squad and manager will be hoping to achieve.
